At physics and chemistry OliFantje never paid much attention, even when it was very difficult. OliFantje was already working on her friend's 'diary' on an app where you can publish stories. That's how she and another friend came up with the idea of making a book about natural phenomena. How clouds actually form, for example. In other words, the reverse of physics. Too bad for that teacher, because he was actually pretty nice.
Biology was just biology, not fun and not bad. The only time OliFantje really enjoyed it was when the whole class went to the lake to catch aquatic animals and see how healthy the water was.
Art was always a double hour so cleaning up took less time. OliFantje always thought it was a fun subject, even though her artwork wasn't that great. At the end of the year, all the second classes went to the Veluwe (a nature park) and the Rijksmuseum to do assignments and take art photos.
Music was always the same, sometimes a quiz or a test. The class had to sit opposite each other at long tables. During a test, the bags had to be placed on the table so that they could not cheat, or that's what the teacher thought... If your neighbor had studied well, then you would have an A or B anyway. Because OliFantje did not find it that interesting that the Tango comes from Argentina and she knew that copying is a piece of cake, she never studied for music. Such a test lasted a maximum of 25 minutes and then everyone was allowed to practice the keyboard. But that wasn't the only thing. There was a small room next to the classroom. There was a piano and also some guitars. OliFantje and her friends always had a competition against a group of boys to see who gets to the room first. When the girls won, OliFantje played the guitar, her friend played the piano and the others sang. If one of them found a song she liked, she would send it to the other three to listen to it until they could play it themselves. These were often songs from one singer or another or from popular movies. Sometimes they were playing and singing so loud that they didn't hear the bell for the next hour.
PE (physical education) was always on the field when it was warm and then they played sports such as football, rugby and javelin throwing. When it was indoors in the winter they did things like trapeze swinging, trampoline jumping and volleyball. If the class was lucky they could choose themselves what to
do. OliFantje and her friends played table tennis or trampoline as standard and that was always fun.
As an extra subject, OliFantje also had a sports class with all the other second-graders. Sports class was an extra double hour after school for extra fun sports: Canoeing, tennis, skiing, swimming, badminton, darts and more...
Then of course she also had a break in between. The break was a time to exchange books, eat and drink and do whatever you wanted. The lower grades, including OliFantje, were not allowed to leave the school grounds. So they started doing something on their phone or iPad. OliFantje and her friends did that too. Listen to music, play games, use social media, or just review the material for the test. But OliFantje and one of her friends didn't like it tht much, always using that iPad. So they made an agreement with their friends that they would use the iPad during one break and not during the next.
